A Bit About Me

Jose Zamora is the Regional Director for the Americas at the Committee to Protect Journalists. He has held senior communications roles at Exile Content Studio and Univision News, and previously led the Knight News Challenge at the Knight Foundation, supporting over 100 grants for media innovation and free expression. He began his career at elPeriódico in Guatemala, promoting civic engagement and digital journalism. In 2024, he founded Ilumina Communications, a bilingual consultancy for purpose-driven organizations, and helped launch the Central American Independent Media Archive to safeguard press freedom in the region.
